Show and Tell Guidelines

Please help your child select an item to share with the class.   These are some of the guidelines that you can use to help your child:

-          have them practice presenting to you

-          encourage them to speak clearly and loudly

-          have them explain what the item is instead of, “This is what I brought in.”

-          explain what the  item does that is unique or special

-          where did the item come from – a gift, souvenir, etc.

-          explain why you chose the item – is it a special interest of the student or does it relate to something we are doing in class

-          and finally, the question that is always asked J  “Where do you keep it!”

Students may write down some notes to help them.

Show and Tell Topics – 2nd Grade-2010-11

Here is the schedule where your child can bring an object, writing, picture, or just share thoughts about our topics.  On days that we don't have school, we will have the missed show and tells the day afterward or the day ahead of the missed day.  Out of the nearly 40 weeks of Show and Tell, each student is required to share at least ten (10) times.  It is all right to share each week if students like to do that.  Each Show and Tell will be recorded as a daily grade in the Language grade book.  It is my hope that by encouraging children to plan and share for their short oral and possibly visual presentations, they will gain confidence and skills for public speaking and reports.  ( Parents- please let me know if there are any special circumstances that I should know.)
